Take One: Blogalicious 2009

By Divina

I am home after a truly inspiring and amazing weekend at Blogalicious with over 150 fabulous bloggers.

You may be asking yourself, what is Blogalicious 2009?

Blogalicious was the dream of the exceptional MamaLaw ladies who wanted "Black, Latina, Caribbean, Asian-Pacific, and Native-American bloggers, among other nationalities, to enjoy a weekend of entertaining, informative discussions and extraordinary events, all experienced in the company of exceptional women."    Don’t you wish you went!

This is the first conference Rosa and I have attended and MamaLaw , the volunteers, the staff at the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta and the sponsors of Blogalicious just made this conference experience exceptional.  All my future conferences have a lot to live up to!

Some of favorite moments were:

Meeting and taking a picture with the Pine-Sol Lady (Diane Amos)!  Pine-Sol was quite a presence at the conference.  Not only were they a title sponsor for the cocktail party they also had a huge display over 6 feet tall with scratch and sniff coupons.  My favorite was the Lavender Clean and Sparking Wave.  I also learned about Pine-Sol ‘s site www.PowerfulDifference.com , which empowers women of color to get involved in their communities.  For more info go to link and follow them on twitter @PowerfulDiff .

Speaking to Stacey, lead designer for "So In Style" by Barbie .  Since I was a little girl, I have always loved Barbie, Theresa, Ken and crew.  Little girls today have so much more diversity in their toys and I LOVE it.  When Stacey talked about how proud her daughter was of her I almost cried.  Someday, I hope Baby Boy is just as proud of me.

Smelling all the new Glade Candles Holiday Collection and realizing the holidays are just around the corner!  I love the Apple Cinnamon and brought a couple of them home with me.  They are going to make the house smell wonderful.

Winning a "My Pal Violet" for Baby Boy from LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc.   I have to go online and personalize Violet with Thomas’ name.

Learning about American Airlines new program Black Atlas and trying to figure out how to get Nelson George’s job as Travel Expert-at-Large!

AND OF COURSE, being inspired by the speeches, the panelists and the level of passion and professionalism by my fellow attendees.  I felt like I was surrounded by a group of very powerful and intelligent friends who were going to take on the world.  Friends like Tara , Kim , Devra , Corvida , Angela , Karen , Stefania , Leticia , Ms. Latina , Denene , Xochitl , Aliza , Liz , Veronica , Shameeka , Niri , Renee , MJ Tam , Kim , Natasha , Jennifer , Cyn , Imanamani , Carol , Cat , Vicky , Yolanda , Aparna , and Senam

It was so great to meet you, and I’m glad we had time to chat on our Chevy Traverse ride. You got to see first-hand what a flustered driver I am ;-) Love your site; it’s fun to read.
