Sesame Street: Ready, Set, Grover! Wii Video Game Review and Giveaway

I love it when Sesame Street contacts the Dancing Hotdogs family for any kind of review because I KNOW it’s going to be an educational good time and Sesame Street and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s latest Nintendo Wii and DS game Sesame Street: Ready, Set Grover! Does not disappoint.

I don’t know if you watch as much Sesame Workshop as Big Bro and I do but they have an initiative called “Healthy Habits for Life” that encourages parents/caregivers and their kids to start healthy habits early and create a foundation for a lifetime of healthy living.  The new game reinforces that initiative by showing kids they can play BUT stay active while having fun.

The game is so cute! Through games and adventures with Elmo and Abby the game players practice physical activity, good nutrition, personal hygiene, and the importance of rest and relaxation.   Don’t you just love it! Playtime with a great message! What more can a parent ask for and trust me on rainy days like yesterday this game really helped Eddy and me.

Some of Big Bro’s favorite mini games are playing “Grover Says”, rowing a boat and jumping over obstacles with Elmo his favorite Sesame Street buddy.

Like the previous Sesame Street video games, the game is perfect for your preschooler and has the Parental “Drop In” feature for you or an older sibling to get involved.  The game is not difficult and Wiimote is ideal for small hands and the Glover Wii cover blocks all those other buttons not required for the game.

My only negative point for the review is only one person can play the game at once and since I now have two little boys I have to keep that in mind for the future. ; ) Hopefully Sesame Street and Warner Bros will have that fixed by the time Baby Bro is ready to play.

Ready, Set, Grover! is available for both the Wii ($39.99)and Nintendo DS ($29.99)at retailers nationwide and online right now BUT one lucky Dancing Hotdogs reader will win a game in the platform of their choice.

    I feed my kids a relatively low-carb diet (I eat a strict low carb diet), plus I require them to play outside a lot. It’s not optional. In addition, they are limited to 2 total hours of “sceen time” per day, with weekends being a bit more.

    Since we live about 4 blocks away from the school I walk to pick my daughter up from school everyday.  She gets exercise on the way back and I also make sure she has a healthy balanced lunch in her lunch bag everyday.  If she doesn’t eat all of her lunch at school then she is allowed to choose whatever is leftover as an after school snack (this also ensures that she gets a healthy snack after school)
