For Dads: (Video) Sirius XM Edge with Speaker Dock from Radio Shack

Father’s day alert! Father’s day alert!  The forth most important day of the year approaches (behind Thanksgiving, Superbowl and the start of the football season).  We fathers are notoriously hard to shop for, but we are certainly worth it.  To make things  a bit easier over the next couple of weeks I am going to post on a couple of presents I think are great for Dad’s (wink, wink Divina).

First on the list is The SiriusXM Edge Radio and SiriuXM Portable Speaker Doc.  I am a big fan of satellite radio, the less commercials the better as far as I am concerned.  In addition, music has become so pop oriented that all the other genre stations like rock, blues and jazz are closing down.  Satellite has become the last bastion for truly great music.  So I ask you: why deprive your Dad of that gift?  In addition, there is just something classic about sitting down with the family and listening to the radio, I have to confess that I sometime try to imagine how it was before television with everyone gather around the radio rather than the TV.

The SiriusXM Edge is the latest offering by SiriusXM, depending on which subscription you buy (you are able to pick and choose which plan you want from all music to all sports or talk…try doing that with regular radio).  My favorite thing about the Edge is that it come with the +Xtra channels. These are channels that are not regularly available to other subscribers.  I am super exited about this because a number of those channels are Spanish music channels, which has been sorely lacking in the past.  The channel that has my dad absolutely crazy about is the Rumbon Channel which plays exclusively salsa music (his favorite).

The Edge comes with a car installation kit as well and costs $139.99 at Radio Shack.

If your Dad is not content to stay in his car to listen to music, or like me loves to cook outside then your next purchase has to be the Portable Speaker Dock.   Easy to install, the Doc fits seamlessly with the Edge and also come with its own antenna (the only issue I have with having SiriusXM at home is that you have to position the antenna so that it has clear view of the sky, if not you might not get a signal).  The dock looks great and comes with its own remote, which requires no programming.  So far this has been a god send with the wonderful weather we were experiencing over the weekend.

The SiriusXM portable Speaker Dock is available for $129.99 at Radio Shack.

Disclaimer: We received an Edge Radio, Portable Speaker Dock and SiriusXM subscription for review purposes.  This post express my unbiased opinion.
