For Dads: Crazy Stupid Love #BlurayElite Review #SP

As a member of Warner Home Video super exclusive Blu-Ray Elite team, I get access to some of the greatest movies ever made. My mission is to give you how these movies fit in the life of a Dad.

Movie: Crazy Stupid Love

I know you have been waiting for a great movie, and I finally got one.  Starring Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling, Julian Moore and Emma Stone, this movie takes up through the tumultuous life of Cal Weaver as he gets divorced but ultimately finds the love he truly deserves and needs in the end.  Its kind of like How Stella Got her Groove Back for white males.

Dad Factor: medium/high.  I have a slight MILF crush on Julian Moore and Emma Stone has been climbing up the ranking of Hollywood cuties in my mind.  It doesn’t hurt that I feel both have fun and outgoing personalities (As you can tell with Divina, I really like that).  Through in the fact that for a Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling are probably among the top 3 leading men that I can tolerate in a Romantic comedy (Johnny Depp being number one).

Kid Factor: Nope again. Don’t worry I will be getting into more kid friendly movies soon.

Date Factor: High.  Are you kidding me?  This shouldn’t even be a question.  The movie is about relationships features couple from various age ranges and spoiler: it has a happy ending.  Add in the fact that it has eye candy for both sexes, and a good amount of laughs and you pretty much have the perfect date movie.

Cool Blu-Ray Features:   Most of the features are related to Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling’s unusually close relationship, and there are also deleted scenes.

Bottom Line: Honestly, I liked the movie not even taking the high date factor into account.  So this is certainly a recommend for me!

Disclosure: I received a copy of the movie on Blu-Ray for my participation in the Warner Brothers Blu-Ray elite program.  These are my unbiased opinions.

Hey there compadres, fellow Blu-ray Elite Team-ers and reviewers..how the miles get away from us with all these reviews and little circles happening in the movie review blogsworld.  Caught your post here, I liked your theme of dads and the bullet points, straight to it and all that.  I was a little more critical of the movie overall, mainly because I thought it had a lot going for it that didn’t fully payoff in the end or fell apart – I felt the same way about The Kids Are Alright, which I’m working on a review for my blog Above The Line.  I also agree I think the film probably works best as a couples movie, mainly because whatever problems that might come up for guys only or girls only will probably cancel one another out for the sake of arguing about couples stuff.
Do drop by and say hello.  I hope you don’t mind me including a link here to an article I wrote. I know sometimes it seems self serving but then again all of this stuff is in one way or another.  Just making the connection.  Best.  I’d also dig your thoughts on a series i wrote called Female Directors  http://rorydean.wordpress.com/2010/07/07/female-directors-above-and-beyond-a-call-to-duty/

Great review! I wish I had read this long ago because I’ve been debating whether to see this movie after one of my co-workers at Dish told me it was a chick-flick. I started dating someone new last year when it was in theaters, and call me crazy, but some of these Rom-Com’s put too much pressure on couples that are just dating! We’ve since grown more comfortable with each other, and I thought that maybe it was time to watch a cheesy tearjerker. I added it to my Blockbuster @Home list and within a few days, it was waiting for me in my mailbox. I made a romantic dinner and we watched Crazy, Stupid, Love. Seriously, I wish I had read your review a while ago! This movie was funny, it was goofy, and most of all it’s perfect for any stage of “love.” I’ve decided to keep it an extra week since I don’t have to worry about late fees, and watch it with some of my girlfriends for girls night. I’m looking forward to returning and reading your take on other movies, thanks again!
