Nervousness and other life lessons

Sure they look cute and sweet but below is what I see!

Thats right, he stole my iPhone, managed to unlock it and start taking pictures of himself.  I can practically hear the evil laugh during this picture!

Motherhood does not come with a manual and even with the best intentions life lessons sometimes backfire.

Take my latest struggles with my little man Rock who is four year old and so so smart.  I know all Mamis think their children are brilliant but seriously my kid is brilliant and a future lawyer.  He debates and questions everything which I love because I want my son to be a leader not a follower among men. I love saying, “I do not raise sheep!”  But sometimes Mamis do get weary.

We got the coolest looking not to mention safest car seats from BRITAX that you would have thought my sons would love to ride around in.  For goodness sakes they look like pilot seats! But Rock had to challenge me about “Why?” So I explained how he and his brother X had to seat in the car seats because without them, “I get nervous about their safety.”

So my future lawyer asks, “what does nervous mean?” I go into a similar definition to Webster about, “how it’s a feeling that upsets my stomach and makes me a little scared and worried.”

My beautiful son smiles at me and says he understands, allows me to strap him in and he does not fidget with the buckles. Point to Mami, right?

NOT QUITE! Now my darling lawyer-to-be tells ME all the time how every little thing makes HIM NERVOUS!

Yup, too many vegetables and not enough dessert he gets nervous.

When I scold him for fighting with his brother, nervous.

Going to bed at bedtime, you guessed it, SUPER NERVOUS!.

Most days I just smile, pray to God for strength and wish I had taught him a SAT word instead like apprehensive, overwrought or volatile or in Spanish like aprensivo but other days I try not to laugh hysterically at the little smart-alecky kid I have created.

Hey at least he improved his vocabulary, grown emotionally and now sits in his car seat without a fight. ; )

That is why I know God has a sense of humor.  AMEN!

The next time Rock says he’s nervous, teach him another word.  See if it will stick!  We have different locks on all our ipads, iphones & ipods – Norrin knows the code to all of them.

LOL…kids are figuring out those iPhone locks earlier and earlier!  My best friend’s 6-year-old has already figured out how to order things on Amazon.  Imagine their shock when a package arrived at the door and they found a $120 charge on their credit card!
