G.I. JOE: RENEGADES Dvd Review

The more you know! GI Joe has been going on for decades and young boys never cease in being entranced between the battle of the Joes and the evil forces of Cobra! GI Joe: Renegades came out around the same time as the second GI Joe movie. Based around the same premise of the film that the Joes have been deemed criminals (unjustly I might add like a cartoon A-Team) but continue to use their training and skills to help people.

Rock and I are slightly obsessed with the show, while I have to be careful about how much he watches and I usually need to explain that Cobra are bad guys, we have a great time watching the show. The violence is not very graphic (no blood, nobody getting shot) but we still get a huge amount of action, especially those scenes that include Snake Eyes. I have a feeling that soon enough I will be purchasing a couple of the more famous of these Hasbro heroes for Christmas including Duke, Roadblock and of course the afore mentioned Snake Eyes.

The show has a unique visual style that is very remincent of anime style cartoons. Honestly, the style gives it a feel that is unique to other show out there today, even compared to other GI Joe shows.

In addition to the action, the show is filled with amazing voice talent including: Charlie Adler (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Natalia Cigliuti (Saved by the Bell: The New Class), Jason Marsden (Batman: The Brave and the Bold), Johnny Messner (Tears of the Sun) and Kevin Michael Richardson (TRANSFORMERS PRIME), as well as special voice appearances by Clancy Brown (Carnivàle), Michael Emerson (Lost), Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-O) and Lee Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man).

Starting today, September 25, 2012, thanks to Shout Factory and Hasbro Studios, you can get all 26 episode of the first action packed season. This also includes behind the scene and other special bonus content from the show. Retailing for around $50, this is great bargain for 26 episodes on 3 disks. On top of that, being on blu-ray you the best audio and visual, which is especially awesome when you consider the technology that went into creating the show.

Disclaimer: we received a review copy of GI Joe: Renegades the complete first season on blu-ray. The post represents my unbiased opinion.
