This last week I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Corazones Blindados Launch party in New York City. The event was attended by a number of MundoFox executives. I also had the opportunity to learn more about the channel itself.
Basically, since U.S. Hispanics have become such a growing force within the U.S. population, television has started to shift in order to cater to their tastes. Part of this shift was the reason why MundoFox was created; to fill the need of sophisticated Latino views, who want American production value but still retain the Latino soul with which they can connect.
“At MundoFox, our main focus is to entertain, inform and challenge… always taking bold strides by providing our audience with viewing options they can’t find elsewhere.”
- Emiliano Saccone, President of MundoFox
In addition to the “suits” all the major stars from the show made the long trip from Columbia to attend. This was the first time being at a launch party and I have to say it was pretty cool being able to hobnob with all these stars that I am used to seeing on the television.
In that spirit, I am going to break down for you some of the stars (and the characters they play) of Corazones Blindados:
Andrés Sandoval (Raúl Ávila)-The Character Raul is a new police officer in the elite Columbian force, who made the decision to join after he witnessed the murder of his father (a respected Sergeant in the Columbian police force). Andres, the actor, was born in Bogota, Columbia has been on a number of shows in his 20 year career including 3 Milagros and Rosario Tijeras.
Majida Issa (Diana Ochoa)- The character Diana is a tough no nonsense police officer who is difficult to get close to. Much of this stems from when her Daughter’s father was kidnapped by guerillas six years ago. Majida Issa, the actress, studied at Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral in Mexico. She has starred in shows such as El Cartel and El Clon in the past couple of years.
