This last weekend I was invited by Whirlpool to go to my first fashion week show, while I was not asked to go up on the runway myself I non-the-less had a great time supporting Suzanne Chan (Momconfessional),a friend to the Dancing Hotdogs family and Whirlpool Ambassador wearing a beautiful dress from Bloomingdales.
The show was call Strut, the Fashionable Mom Show and was presented by The Moms and SWWcreative. The event was all about how moms can be look great as well as inspire others for change. This push for change was reflected by each model, all of which were mothers who walked in support of a specific cause such as breast cancer and habitat for humanity. It was great to see so many great causes publicized during a fashion event. Hopefully this will signal a continued trend for the fashion industry which has primarily concentrated on itself rather than the world and people around it.
At the show it appeared that the Strut mission and cause did not just resonate with me as the room and runway was packed and even carried it nice list of celebrity attendees including Current and former New York Yankees, CC Sabathia and Jorge Posada as well as New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire all of whom had their wives or family walking on the runway. In addition there were a number of fashion television personalities enjoying the great style.
Sponsoring the event were a number of brands that Moms can’t live without including Whirlpool who was well represented in the audience with people wearing some sort of red clothing item in support of the latest ads from Whirlpool featuring a red dress. Again it was very special to see so many high end brands supporting a show that had a strong social conscious focus. Hopefully all the charities and organizations that were represented at the show got a boost in publicity from it.
