Dear friends I feel like I owe you an apology. If follow @DancingHotdogs on twitter, instagram and facebook you know I have been traveling a lot. I am still amazed how this little movie review blog grew into something so much more and that is ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!
Just in the first quarter of 2015 I have been in PA, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Miami. Travel is such fun and with the right apps not only do you enjoy the trip, you stay connected with home and not loose yourself to the madness.
These are my top 5 apps that help me keep my sanity!
Remember that little know messenger service that Facebook bought? I was one of the cool kids already on board. It does not matter if traveling around town, across the country or overseas as long as you have wifi you can stay connected. During a recent media cruise trip, the travel coordinator used the group chat function to share key info and keep us on time. I use this app even when I am not traveling to share messages, pictures and videos with loved ones. App is free for the first year and 99 cents per year and available for iOS and android with first year free and 99 cents per year.
I was first introduced to this service at a blogger event and since then cannot live without my TripIt Pro! This truly is an app made for travel but it really does take the guess work out of travel and keeps my sanity. I love how this one app holds my different frequent flyer miles, hotel loyalty programs or really any travel membership I have. As soon as I make a new reservation I forward to firstname.lastname@example.org and they keep track of all my travel plans. App is so smart whenever I get a travel confirmation email it automatically pulls info into system and sends me an email saying new itinerary has been found! App is free but if you travel a lot because of work or play the $50 per year service is for you. Available for iOS and android.
When I am not traveling I have been going to the gym at least twice a week and it is definitely paying off. We all know the disadvantages and health risks of poor dieting and limited exercise. Unfortunately, whenever I travel even if I have access to a gym or healthy food options slowly start to gain weight. That is why I love the free MyFitnessPal app that I use daily whether I am traveling or not. With a simple swipe I input how much water I drank, minutes of exercise and calories I consumed. App is totally user friendly because it remembers your preferences, reads labels with scanner and has the option to link your health trackers. Available for iOS and android.
Yes I am late to the game on this one but now on board. If you do not know what Evernote is basically it is an app that holds your entire life. The free and monthly services keep track of important dates, appointments etc. I use it for everything! Available for iOS and android.
Another one that I was late to the game but perfect travel option if you are visiting a major city. The drivers receive hours of safety training, know the city and do not want to waste time nor money by taking you on a wild goose chase of a ride. Love how no cash is ever physically exchanged but everything is digital plus if traveling with a large group can split the fare and pick the perfect size car for your needs.
See how there was no mention of kids? These are purely for that busy traveler who is traveling for business or pleasure with or without family.
PLEASE share your favorite travel app that helps you keep your sanity!
