We are just days away from the national release of one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE!
Scrat’s epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into the universe where he accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the Ice Age World. To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their home and embark on a quest full of comedy and adventure, traveling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colorful new characters. ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE, opening in theaters everywhere July 22, 2016, stars returning cast members Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes, and Jennifer Lopez. Joining the herd are Stephanie Beatriz, Adam DeVine, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jessie J, Nick Offerman, Melissa Rauch, Michael Strahan and Neil deGrasse Tyson.
This looks SO FUNNY! Every time the boys and I see the trailer we go into a fit of giggles. Better yet love how for the fifth installment of ICE AGE so many of our favorite characters are back for another adventure!
In anticipation of the release of the latest animated comedy from Blue Sky Studios I was invited to the Connecticut-based studios to not only see exclusive footage, learn about the creation process but meet some key animators and team members.
I met with:
- Mike Knapp, Art Director
- Elvira Pinkhas, FX Supervisor
- Jony Chandra, Head of Story
- Jason Keane, Animator
- Daniel Segarra, Animator
- Roberto Calvo, CG Supervisor
- David Vasquez, Animator
- Robert MacKenzie, Senior Visual Development Artist
- Matthew Doble, Lead Animator
Sadly, I was not allowed to take any videos or pictures of the tour or roundtable but I took copious notes on the amazing work done from start to finish on this film.
Notes that include quotes like, “come so far,” ‘leap of faith,’ “always learning,” “the art drives me,” “family story always the core” and “herd keeps growing and family keeps evolving.”
And was struck time and time again how from the directors (who have worked on every ICE AGE film) to the animators, artists and crew they wanted to create something so much more than just an asteroid story or a prehistoric story but a story that was “pure entertainment” for the family.
That dedication to tell a great story has definitely paid off. With just the trailer above you get a sense of the hard work, dedication, and passion required for each scene in the film. Unfortunately, the Dancing Hotdogs family was unable to attend the prescreening of the upcoming film come July 22, 2016 we will be there with you seeing Manny, Diego, Sid, Scrat and the rest of the lovable herd on the big screen once again.
Disclosure: I attended this Blue Sky Studios hosted event as media. As always, my posts are based on my opinions and experiences.
