Recently I found my boys totally engrossed watching TV. Instead of fighting each other, playing with their toys or half paying attention they were at full attention watching Puss in Boots, actually Puss in Book. I knew they liked the show, but I really never saw this level of interest and that is when I saw them lift the remote and select the next step of the adventure. The boys were playing in Netflix version of “Choose your adventure”. I totally remember reading through plenty of adventure novels and having a great time. Now the boys get the next generation to enjoy for themselves.
The new show follows Puss as he gets pulled into a story book with the unknown story teller out to get him. Helping or hurting Puss is the audience who have to choose between two choices in order to determine Puss’ fate. Here is the trailer:
If you are looking for something a little more for grown up, I would recommend Okja. It is the latest film from South Korean Director Bong Joon Ho who directed a a number of films including Snowpiercer. His latest film made the circuit around all the major film festivals and has garnered great reviews. Personally I found it to be a pretty interesting mix off different films from Steven Spielberg mixed together with Joon Ho’s South Korean sense of humor. For someone used to American films it can seem a bit different from what we are used to watching, but that is what makes it so interesting. Not to mention the interesting characters that Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano and Tilda Swinton play in the movie. Overall, I think it is worth checking out.
