The latest Marvel movie to hit the big screen is finally out tomorrow (10/16/18). As part of a paid promotion for Ant-Man & The Wasp on behalf of Walt Disney Studios, we received a viewing package along with the Blu-Ray of the film in order to watch the movie at home. Of course, the boys and myself make sure that we make it to every Marvel movie that has come out in the last couple of years and surprisingly one of our favorites has been Ant-Man. We enjoyed that the film and characters doesn’t take things too seriously. The plots don’t revolve around saving the Universe or Earth from ultimate destruction, rather it is very self contained and for the most part revolves around family.
The sequel reintroduces us to Hope Van Dyne who has taken the mantle of the Wasp over from her mother, who was lost many years ago. Currently, Hope and Hank Pym (the original Ant-Man) are trying to find any way to search for her and bring her back. Scott Lang (the current Ant-Man) is in House arrest following the events of Captain America: Civil War and waiting until his sentence is over so that he can continue his life with his daughter. Of course, things do not go as planned as a new villian-Ghost steals technology from Hope and Hank that they need to continue their search of course they need Scott to help get it back.
Like I said, while there are real stakes for each of the characters, it is nice to see a story that doesn’t have intergalactic implications. Not to say that the team doesn’t go to far off places, this movie brings us back to the mysterious Microverse that we saw in first film. In addition, Ant-Man & The Wasp is much more lighthearted and full of comic relief when compared to the downer that was the end of Avengers: Infinity War. As for extras on the Blu Ray you can never go wrong with the gag reel, as everyone knows Paul Rudd is hilarious, especially when he is trying to make his co-stars laugh.
While we enjoyed the movie in the theater it is so much better when we watch it at home. This way we can choose exactly where we want to sit and more importantly pick or make the snacks we want to eat during the film. As part of their promotion of the film, Disney Studios sent us a little package to have an “Ant-Sized Night In”:
We couldn’t enjoy these things alone, so we invited a couple of the boys from the neighborhood to hang out and bake some cupcakes as well as watch the film all together.
