School is out and before the kids can even say “I’m bored” YOU MUST TAKE THEM to THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG!
The time is right to see THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, Broadway’s funniest smash hit! This Olivier Award-winning comedy is a hilarious hybrid of Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes. Welcome to opening night of The Murder at Haversham Manor where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. With an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines), it’s “A RIOTOUS EXPLOSION OF COMEDY!” (The Daily Beast) and “TONS OF FUN FOR ALL AGES!” (HuffPost). Ben Brantley of The New York Times calls THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG “A GUT-BUSTING HIT,” and Cindy Adams of the New York Post has just one word for you: “GO!” Get tickets now – it would be WRONG to wait!
What a fantastic night out! As you know the Dancing Hotdogs loves the theater so when we got invited to THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG we could not say yes fast enough especially when this show is advertised as a family friendly show. And the Cast and crew definitely delivered! The premise of the show is it’s opening night of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’s newest production, The Murder at Haversham Manor and they just might not be ready…….. From knowing their lines, their roles or even having a stable set. Just be prepared for a fun and laugh out loud entertainment. The New York City show is performing at the New World Stage that is an intimate theater so you have a fantastic seat for all the hijinks.

Immediately after leaving THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG I was reminded of a funny film from the early 90’s called Noises Off starring two mainstay from superhero films: Christopher Reeves (Superman) and Michael Caine (Alfred). Yet instead of capes and powers, Noises Off focuses on a failing second rate Broadway show and all the hysterical fights, falls and failures of the last rehearsal before the show debut.
THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG is the spiritual sequel to Noises Off , it is as if even after the disaster of a final rehearsal they said “screw it” let’s do the show anyways. As a result, we got the The Murder at Haversham Manor and I couldn’t ask for a more entertaining and funny play to enjoy with my family that night.
