While we try to keep the boys outside as much as we can during the summer, sometime they need a little time out of the sun. That is it why it was a perfect time to check out Growtopia for the first time. Growtopia is a mobile game that just was just released in July this year for PS4, Xbox One and the Switch. Below is the brief official description:
Growtopia is a free-to-play multiplayer sandbox platformer with crafting, giving players the framework and tools to create interactive worlds! Players collect seeds, grow trees, harvest and combine seeds to discover new items to build, trade or decorate one-of-a-kind worlds. Growtopia features an infinite number of worlds for players to create anything they want with their friends and play extensive range of mini-games from parkour challenges, puzzles and races to PvP battles and mazes.
When X and I played Growtopia we found that it was similar to Minecraft in the sense that you are able to build and create your own worlds. The thing that makes it different than just another Minecraft clone is the fully realized economic system that allows players to make, sell and trade items with each other. This allows another dimension to the game play. The economy is also based on gems which can be used to purchase items from players as well as purchase items from the official Growtopia store.
As you can see from the video above, the main game play element is growing all your items. By finding and farming seeds, you can grow a huge assortment of trees from Pizzas, Jetpacks, doors and locks. All of which can be used to build and create your own worlds.
Here are a couple of tips for the next time you play Growtopia:
- If drop an item, anyone in the world can pick it up.
- If you want to prevent anyone from changing or destroying your world, you need to lock it. You can do this by placing a lock anywhere in the world.
- You can take part in a number of activities like Startopia, surgery and crime-fighting. In order to star them you need to purchase a corresponding item pack.
- Updates are released every two months with a bunch of new features and surprises.
