Appgear Foam Fighters App review

Augmented Reality is the new hit among portable games. With the technology available on Iphone/Ipads and Android phones/tablets it is great to see games take advantage of the unique experience these devices provide. Yet with any new tech for games, it is only as good as the game itself. I had the opportunity to try one of these new generation of AR games: Appgear’s Foam Fighter.

Basically bringing the Air Combat simulation to the next level, Foam Fighter combines Augmented Reality with the physical world. Players can download the game and start playing immediately (demo only unfortunately), or they can pick up the foam fighters, aptly named as they are miniature airplanes made of foam. When attached to your phone or tablet by a small arm with a suction cup, the game will scan the plane opening up new campaigns specific to the plane. I had the chance to try out the Battle of Britain. Missions were pretty varied from destroying select buildings as targets or full out aerial battles.

Manueving the plane consisted of moving the device left or right/up or down. Visually, it is as if the battles are happening in your own living room. While the graphics aren’t ground breaking in the sense of Infinity Sword, they are pretty good, especially the rendering of the clouds and sky. Initially you start off with just machine guns, but as you progress and earn points, players are able to upgrade weapons and bombs making you an even more deadly force.

If you want to play with your friends, there is a multi player mode which allows you to play with up to 8 of your friends in Skirmish mode. Overall, I thought the game played wonderfully, honestly, I would have been happy just flying the plane as a flight simulator, the blowing up of stuff is definitely an added bonus. If my word doesn’t do it for you, just take a look at the positive reviews on itunes. Foam Fighters is available for free for apple iOS and Android. The actual foam fighters themselves come in sets of 2 fighters and cost $10.

(Video) Marvel Reads: Spiderman: An Origin Story App Review

A new Spiderman movie is set to come out this summer with a different spin on the entire story. What better way to prepare for the debut than to brush up on the original story from Marvel. Of course, if you are an adult it isn’t that difficult to pick up or download a version of the original comic. For children it is a bit harder relating to a story created back in the early 60s. Thankfully, Marvel has brought the story to a generation through Spiderman: An Origin Story App. Formatted in the same way as the Avenger Assemble! and Hulk app, iPhone/iPad users are treated to an interactive story told by Stan Lee on one of his most famous characters. Designed for all ages (not just kids) the story is brought to life with interactive games and puzzles. Check out Rock and I having some webslinging fun:

Available in French, Italian, German, Spanish and Danish, the app can be found here on iTunes for $3.99 which to me is definitely worth it considering the repeated use that it will get.

(Video) Uncle Milton Darth Maul Lightsaber Room Light

Probably the best thing (and only thing) to come out of the Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was the introduction of the dual blade lightsaber. With that said, what little boy (or big boy in my case) is not going to love falling asleep to the warm glow of a lightsaber, it is just too perfect. Uncle Milton really did me a favor, not only does it make me a hero to my son to help him build his lightsaber night light but I get to further introduce him to the Star Wars lore. Check out my assessment and assembly of the room light below:

Also included as part of the instructions, is a color poster with various cool Star Wars facts about Darth Maul (the bad guy who wields the double lightsaber) as well as a brief history of the character. In addition, the poster breaks out some real science information regarding electricity and how some of the technology in real life can relate to lightsabers.

Rock loves the lightsaber, I have had to put it pretty high in his room so he couldn’t get his hands on it. Thankfully, the light automatically turns itself off after a certain period of time, so the battery life is extended. In addition, what you can’t really tell from the video is the size of the lightsaber, it is almost three feet long.

The Uncle Milton Star Wars Science Darth Maul Lightsaber room light retails for $40 and can be found in most major retailers.

Este domingo es el día de la Madre y cada año tengo el mismo problema que le regalo a mi mamá. Mi mamá es una de las más generosa, simpática, fantástica y divertida persona que le vas a encontrar. Mi papá y mamá siempre me ayudo con los niños cuando Eddy y yo queríamos salir para una noche romántico pero desde que yo renuncié a mi trabajo y empecé a viajar para DancingHotdogs.com ella le llevar a la escuela y les cuida mas.

Unas veces les busco a Rock y X y ellos huelen como el perfume de mi mamá. Ella se pone los perfumes muy románticos con muchas flores. Cuando respiro el aroma me lleva a memorias de mi juventud. Memorias de noches afuera con la familia donde mi mamá esta vestida de rojo y está bailando. Memorias que yo le veo riendo y me hace sonreír.

Antes de ir mire en la revista de Target para ideas. Me encanta mi Target local. ¡Siempre es limpio, los precios son buenos y puedes usar cupones!

Toda la familia nos subimos en el auto y nos fuimos para un paseo y de compras.

Antes de ir decidir darle a mi mamá una canasta de productos cosméticos y productos de Glade para un día perfecto para la reina que es mi mamá.

My parents and two younger sisters and I are super close but though we all live 25 minutes away from each other life has a way of getting really busy. We all have work, classes, play dates, social obligations etc but every Tuesday night we make it a point to get together for a family dinner. It does not have to be anything special it may be leftovers, a simple meal or takeout but my parents, my sisters, Eddy, my little men and I get together to spend some quality time together and catch up with life and other chismes.

Yesterday, Domino’s Pizza sponsored our family dinner by treating us to NEW Gluten-Free Crust Pizza and other specialties so we could catch up over a good affordable meal.

Thankfully Eddy, my little men and I don’t have a gluten sensitivities (a protein found in wheat, rye and barley) but it’s nice to hear as a Mami that Domino’s Pizza is aware that more and more people need gluten free products and they are giving their clients a choice. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. The gluten-free crusted pizza was thinner than their usual crust and less doughy but the sauce, cheese and spices all tasted the same.

What I especially enjoyed was all the items pictured above and in the video: the large Artisan pizza, the regular pepperoni pizza, the gluten-free crust pepperoni pizza, stuffed bread and 2 liter Coke totaled $40.40 and fed six adults and two kiddos.

Domino’s Gluten-Free Crust pizza (small, 10-inch size only, and prices vary by store ) will be available in all of its nearly 5,000 U.S. stores and became the first national pizza delivery chain to offer such a product.

Calling Mommy!

When you are a child your mother is the center of the world. Every bit of news that happens in your life is filtered and given to her. As you grow older sometime keeping that connection become more and more difficult. It could be through distance or just a plain old busy life. None the less, it is important to keep in touch with the woman that gave you the gift of life.

For D and I, with family either in Puerto Rico or Paraguay it is difficult making sure we stay in touch with all the mothers in our life. The only way we found to keep in touch and not spend $50 on a twenty minute call is through pre paid phone cards. The biggest trouble is finding the right one that works. Thing are especially difficult when calling Paraguay which is off the beaten path and is expensive to call as well as difficult to find a calling card that works right. This leaves us especially vulnerable to card scams. Thankfully there are resources that help out on finding the right calling card and not falling into some scam. Here is an article from Consumer Reports that has been super helpful.

So far, in the last couple of years we have not gotten scammed yet, but it is only a matter of time before someone takes advantage of our need to call Mami! Yet the possibility of these scams should not be a barrier, D speaks with her mom every week and I try to do the same (with a lot of help from Divina as well). These are thing we hopefully will instill in Rock and X as they continue to grow older because I know sooner or later its is going to be D and I waiting for those phone calls.

When Eddy and I were expecting Rock we felt overwhelmed by all the baby brands. We were the first of our friends to have children and though our parents wanted to help it was over 20 years since they had babies and the baby world had changed.

So Eddy and I took it to the internet started doing countless hours of research and then we were gifted a BRITAX car seat and everything changed. Eddy and I found this brand was a leader in mobile safety for more than 70 years, with a legacy of leadership in developing innovations that enhance the safety of child car seats and improve their ease of installation and we were sold.

So I was thrilled when I was selected to be a part of the Britax Latina Advisory Brand and was flown down to North Carolina to meet the people behind this great brand and see firsthand the technology and safety that is BRITAX. During the day and half press event alongside some amazing Latina bloggers we got a behind the scenes tour of the BRITAX U.S. headquarters that included product line demonstrations from car seats, strollers and accessories, a factory tour and a car accident simulation that still upsets my stomach.

What really stood out throughout the entire trip was how BRITAX employees REALLY standby the safety and technology in all their products.
