Jameson Distillery Dublin, Ireland First thing first, tours fill up fast so it is smart planning ahead.  At the Old Jameson distillery (the distiller is no longer produces alcohol, it is only used for tours.  The actual whisky is produced in Cork and has its own tour) the tours are separated in three time blocks that rotate throughout the day operating every 25 minutes and the last tour is at 5:15pm, lines to get into the distiller can get pretty long and extend out the doors, therefore it is best to either get tickets ahead of time or purchase tickets for the latest of the three tours and grab a coffee or beer at a nearby bar.   We recently had the opportunity to celebrate the grand opening of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Stamford, Connecticut.  A popular New York Barbecue institution has opened in Connecticut, bringing some great food and beer to the area.  Well known in many barbecue circles and a critically acclaimed, Dinosaur brings their famous ribs, pulled pork and brisket to an up and coming area of Connecticut.  Known as the “new”New York City, a number of NYC institutions, such as Chelsea Peirs, have made the choice to move up route 95 to Stamford. It was a second thanksgiving, only with wonderfully juicy brisket sandwiches, creamy mac and cheese, and my absolute favorite: Good old fashion corn bread.  D can attest they had to practically roll me out the door and I was already ready for more. … [Read more...]

Newcastle Mini Draught Keg Product Review

By Eddy The warm weather will be upon us very soon. The first thing I think of when the days get longer is an outdoor get together with some barbecue and some beer.   Honestly, for most of the summer that is basically all we eat for dinner.  For the most part I tend to bottles as my medium of choice for my beer.  They are easily obtainable, portable, have the most variety and most importantly taste better than beer in a can.  The only problem is you are left with bottles all over the place, and I have noticed some of the bottles are not recognized by the recycling centers so you don't even get your five cents back when you try to recycle. Ideally, I would go for a keg, they give you that fresh from the draft task, hold a lot of beer and is easy to distribute to your friends.  Add in a couple of plastic cups and you are all set.  Unfortunately, they are expensive, ridiculously heavy and tend to lose carbonation over time.  So you see my dilemma.  For the Baby's birthday … [Read more...]
