Tron: Legacy Movie Review

tron-legacy-2010_poster

By Eddy Geeez, it’s been a tough year of movies for me.  There just hasn’t been one that really stands out.  Granted I didn’t see everything that hit the multiplex this year…But be that as it may, it seems like most movies were all build up and no punch line.  Yes, there were some great movies to come out this year like Inception , but for the most part they tended to leave you less exhilarated and more wondering if what you saw on the big screen was worth it or not. Tron in my view unfortunately falls in the later.  For those of you too old or too young to know about the first Tron , the story follows a man (Jeff Bridges) who gets sucked in to the world of Computers and Computer programs alla A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court .  Obviously he fights in various Gladiatorial like games and defeats the evil leader and ruler of the computer in order to escape.  Tron: Legacy is the story of Kevin Flynn’s (Jeff Bridges) son, Sam (Garrett Hedlund) search … [Read more...]

Blockbuster Express Move Marathon (pt. 2)

The long awaited final conclusion of our thrilling two part series! 9 By Eddy Don't let the fact that it is animated fool you.  This isn't really a film for children.  Set in a post war wasteland between Robots and Humans, nothing remains alive.   A group of animated sack people the size of a Barbie doll represent the last will and testament of the human soul. Each one is so different that they often fight amongst themselves, but in order to survive the remains of the machines they have to band together.  The entire landscape and feels like it was straight from the cutting room floor of Tim Burton, who by the way is a producer for the film.  It goes without saying, that this movie is kind of a downer.  Even with a somewhat happy ending I was still left asking myself...who was this film for?  If you are a deeply devoted Burton fan, or are into anything remotely steampunk (if you don't know what this is, then don't waste your time) then this might be worth … [Read more...]

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

wolverine

Things I didn't like about Wolverine or a written tirade. By Eddy For a movie that appeared to have sacrificed plot for CGI action, sometimes the simplest things were rendered awfully.  Case in point Wolverine's claws (actually from here now on, I will not refer to the title characters name as it just insults one of the more cooler comic book character, rather I will just say Hugh Jackman).  At various points in the movie the claws looked so raw, jagged and fake that I wondered if the editors just missed it in the final cut.  This just brings up one of the main things that kept on going on in my mind.  In lieu of the movie being leaked early and all the bad reviews given at that point, it seems as if the producers and everybody related to the movie just said SCREW IT, and instead of taking their time to actually fix any errors, just tried to get the movie out the doors as fast as it could so they could at least make some money.  BIG MISTAKE! While the actions scenes … [Read more...]

Terminator: Salvation Movie Review

terminator-salvations

By Jeff The Final Nail in the Coffin It can be justifiably said that Terminator Salvation bears no prominent resemblance to The Terminator or Terminator 2: Judgment Day , both of which owe their ongoing legacy as two of the best horror/action films of all time to one person, directorial craftsman extraordinaire James Cameron  Terminator Salvation was given birth for one reason, and one reason only: because fans have a deep-seeded love for those aforementioned films (I don't feel the need to reference Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines here at all). How can anyone forget the moment they first witnessed Arnold Schwarzenegger, naked and stalking abandoned parking lots and bars, that terrifying blank look on his face, with a single mission in mind - kill Sarah Connor. Or the chilling ‘liquid-metal' T-1000 (played by lean Robert Patrick) sprinting after his targets and shape-shifting with the help of never before seen special effects. This fourth installment, given an … [Read more...]
