Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo Blu-ray DVD review

Finding Nemo 3D DVD

Image courtesy of Disney Pixar The Dancing Hotdogs family are big fans of Disney Pixar movies and though it would be difficult to pick our top movie Finding Nemo would be one of our top three.  Who can forget the must-“sea,” must-own Oscar®-winning underwater adventure—featuring the unforgettable Marlin, his forgetful friend Dory and the lovable young Nemo. Fantastic voice talents by Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, Alexander Gould, Brad Garrett and more.  We try to speak whale and I say things like “Just keep swimming” and “Mr. Grumpy Gills” all the time. We all went to see the movie in its 3D theatrical release but as of December 4, 2012 we can enjoy this fantastic movie in the comforts of our home in all its high-definition Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and Digital platforms. “Finding Nemo,” first released in theaters in 2003, earned the Oscar® for Best Animated Feature Film and remains the fifth highest grossing animated film worldwide. Kinect: Disneyland Adventures Review and Sweepstakes

Boxshot Wizard file used for creating global boxshots

Update! This giveaway is closed. Congrats to the winners! We at Dancing Hotdogs love Disney, but sometimes it is hard to make the pilgrimage to the Magic Kingdom. Thankfully, Xbox and Microsoft have brought us the next best thing: Kinect: Disneyland Adventures. Imagine being able to travel around the famous Disney park without having to purchase a plane ticket or a parkhopper pass. Kinect Disneyland Adventure allows you to emmerse yourself into the Disney world.  You are able to travel (or fly) around the park going on different rides.  By rides I mean actually becoming a part of the adventure…most importantly not waiting in lines.  Rock and I were able to fight Captain Hook alongside Peter Pan and battle in the high seas against the Pirates of the Caribbean, but the game is not all action.  Some of the famous attractions you are able to playing in: ·         Alice in Wonderland ·         Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ·         Buzz … [Read more...]

(Video) Marvel Super Heroes Magazine Review & Giveaway Sweepstakes

New Marvel Super Heroes Magazine

Update this giveaway sweepstakes is closed.  Congrats to the winner Julez. We have gone super hero crazy over here.   Last week, Disney Publishing premiered Marvel Superheroes magazine.  The magazine is a starting point to expose children to the Heroes and Heroines that we grew up with. Too often, children are given the easy way out and “just watch the movie”, doing so robs them of exercising their imagination.  While I will be the first to admit that Marvel comics is far from Shakespeare, for many of us, it was these comic that sparked our love of reading. With that said, when we received a review copy of the inaugural issue, Rock was super excited.  While targeting kids aged 8-10, no boy is immune to images of Thor, Hulk and Captain America no matter what age.  Immediately, upon opening the package Rock was thumbing through the pages noting all the characters and asking questions.  As it is, I have read to him quite a bit of the magazine for bed time.  When … [Read more...]

(Video) Marvel Reads: Avengers Origins:Assemble! And Avengers Origins: Hulk App Review

avengers-origins-assemble

Update: This weekend is Free Comic day, to celebrate Disney is having a number of things going one.  1) You can pick up the Disney Comics App for free and download a couple free books or 2) Until 5/11 if you buy $20 worth of disney products at a Disney Store location, you will be able to get a coupon to download the App for free!  but you better hurry, there is only 100,000 coupon available. Personally, I feel it is never too early to get into Comic books.  The only trouble is, that for younger kids trying to follow along the story can be a bit difficult.  I have tried reading them to Rock, but it is harder than it looks.  So what does a parent do? Well thankfully, Disney/Marvel has decided to release a number of Apps in a similar vein as the Peter Pan and Beauty and The Beast Apps we have previously reviewed.  This time, we are taken into the action packed world of Marvel Superheroes.  In anticipation to the huge Release of The Avengers this coming weekend, Disney … [Read more...]

(Video) Xbox Kinect Rush: A Disney/Pixar Adventure Party & Giveaway Sweepstakes

Rush Disney Pixar Adventure XBOX 360 Kinect game

Update: This Giveaway Sweepstakes is Closed congrats to the winners!  What kid is going to say no to a party that includes Disney/Pixar favorites The Incredibles, Toy Story, Cars, Ratatouille and Up?  I definitely know what the answer was in the Dancing Hotdogs home.  When we found that we were going to have an opportunity to try out the new Kinect game Kinect Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure (A actual review of the game will be coming up), we jumped at the chance.  We invited all the kids we knew and had a huge bash.  Honestly, I didn’t even know we knew so many children, I am pretty sure a couple just snuck in before we closed the door.  In order to accommodate the crowd we had to have playtime outside, and bring in the kids almost one at a time inside to play the game.  Any of you who have Kinect will agree how difficult it is to play with a whole bunch of children all at the same time.  You definitely run into the problem of people walking in the way or looking to … [Read more...]

Jake and the Neverland Pirates: Peter Pan Returns DVD Review

Jake Peter Pan Returns DH

Released earlier this month was Jake and the Neverland Pirates: Peter Pan Returns, originally airing on the Disney channel, the series of 5 episode was widely billed as Peter’s return to Neverland.  Of course, Peter Pan alreadyhas  been a topic of discussion at Dancing Hotdogs due to our recent review of the Peter Pan App, it is nice to see him in a venue that younger Children can learn about Peter.  There is no doubt that Peter joining the Neverland Pirates was a big deal.  I never understood why he wasn’t there in the first place, or where he went to, but I guess sometime you have to step aside and let new blood take over. Going off of the original story of Peter Pan, Peter loses his shadow and needs the help of Jake and Friends to find it. Of course, thing turn a bit dangerous when Captain Hook and Mr. Smee start causing trouble for Jake, Izzy, cubby and Scully.  The DVD and Digtal Copy (if you purchase the two pack) contain the following episodes (6 in all with one … [Read more...]

Disney’s Peter Pan App Review

Lately the exploits of high flying superheroes such as Thor and Iron, spiderman and the Hulk seems to be everywhere we look. It is no surprise that many kids want to be just like these heroes when they grow up. Yet, lost amongst the high testosterone and flashy action is the exploits of one hero that was no longer grabbing children’s imaginations. Thankfully to the popularity of shows like Jake and The Never Land Pirates and this App, Peter Pan is returning to the public spotlight. Not many children would argue joining the lost boys and fighting against the evil Captain Hook alongside Peter Pan. Now Children can realize the magic of Peter’s and Tinkerbell’s story through the iPad. Illustrated to resemble a book from an older era, after watching the story unfold I realized that Peter Pan, like he always wanted remains timeless. Sprinkled throughout out the story are various animations and mini games that serve to add to the magic rather than take away from it. Check out the … [Read more...]
