My Anniversary with Netflix #streamteam

Courtesy of Netflix.com

Disclosure: I am part of the Netflix Stream Team. My relationship with Netflix really started by necessity.  I was in between jobs and we were trying to cut back on cost.  One of those things that needed to be cut down was cable, so we got as close to unplugged as we could and I signed up for Netflix.  I initially signed up only as a quick fix and once the free month was up I was going to cancel.  It just so happened that this was also during the premiere of Orange is the New Black.  During the heat of summer, while the boys were asleep, D and I would retreat downstairs to the basement and we were hooked. It is great to look back now with the seconds season of Orange is the New Black is about to begin and see how things have changed.  Now gainfully employed we still have not switched back to cable, in fact we use Netflix now more than ever.  What was once only a quick fix now has become the corner stone of our family entertainment with movies and show that they boys love now … [Read more...]

(Video) Disneyland Hotel Review #DisneySMMoms

Dancing Hotdogs Disneyland Hotel #DisneySMMoms

Disclosure: The Dancing Hotdogs family was invited to the Disney Social Media Moms Conference.  We paid for our own conference and travel expenses.  As always, my posts are based on my opinions and experiences. You have to give it to good old Walt.  He certainly knew how to create an experience for children and adults alike.  I don’t think we are going to be able to go back without staying at the historical and newly renovated hotel resort.  As the first official Disney hotel in the world (starting as a privately owned motel in 1955) the Disneyland hotel has gone through a ton of changes throughout the decade. The latest being in the 2000 which updated the hotel for a new generation with all the amenities that you would expect from a top of the line hotel.  Here are a couple of my favorite things about our recent stay there. The first thing you notice is that there is a ton of history in the hotel, and it is wonderfully shown throughout the entire the hotel with wonderful … [Read more...]

Hopefully spring will soon come.  Up in the Northeast it has been one cold spell after the other.  The good thing about being stuck inside is getting to watch a lot of Netflix.  We have become experts of the Netflix Kids section. We have decided to give you our favorite TV shows and movies for kids on Netflix. TV Shows: Phineas and Ferb: This is an intelligent and creative series for both kids and parents.  Emphasizes getting outside and actually doing something in the summer and teaches parent to give kids time to be bored and create their own entertainment. Star Wars Clone Wars: A new addition to our list.  No real educational value other than learning about Star Wars…which when I think about it is just as important! Super Why: A favorite of both boys, and emphasizes reading. All the Marvel and DC shows.  You honestly can take … [Read more...]

Watching Holiday Classics on Netflix #NetflixKids

Daddy christmas

Disclosure: I am part of the Netflix Stream team. Now that the bustle of the holidays it is the perfect time to sit with family and relax for a bit during the holiday.  The days before the holiday usually consist of preparations for holiday parties and family gathering, but there is a nice moment between Christmas and the New Year where people can just relax and take a deep breath before the new year.  While I would usually say that it is best to get outside and enjoy the outdoors it is a bit harder during the winter.  To tell the truth, there sometime nice about cuddling together as a family and watching some shows or a nice movie, one of our favorite traditions during the holiday is watching holiday movies.  This was the first year that Rock and X got the chance to watch holiday movies like Mickey’s Magical Christmas and Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales.  Their absolute favorite this year was The Polar Express.  D loved the older version and we have read the classic book to the … [Read more...]

The Lone Ranger Blu Ray Review

Courtesy of Disney

Disclosure: We received a copy of The Lone Ranger on Blu Ray.  This post represents my unbiased opinion. The Lone Ranger was released today on Blu Ray.  You probably didn’t watch the movie when it was in the theaters. You would think that by bringing back Director Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp from the worldwide hit Pirates of the Caribbean series, Disney was hoping for another grand slam at the box office.  It is hard to fault them.  Let’s look at the formula.  Bring in a handsome lead (ex. Orlando Bloom), take a historic setting (ex. British Empire era Caribbean) add Johnny Depp as a quirky, off beat character that helps out the hero and you should have a guaranteed hit on your hands right? Unfortunately, the critics were less than kind leading to horrible numbers at the box office.  If you read the reviews from the press you would think that the movie was the worst thing ever.  In reality, I kind of liked it.  I am not saying that it deserves to be on anyone best pictures … [Read more...]
