Elmo The Musical DVD

Disclosure: I attended this Sesame Workshop and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group event and am a 2013 PBS KIDS and Sesame Place ambassador but as always my opinions are my unbiased opinions. Picture this, its 1987 and five year old Divina arrives in Greenwich, Connecticut to start a new life, new school and new adventure without speaking a world of English. Again, its 1987, her elementary school has English as a Second Language (ESL) resources but it’s not like today when so many more speak Spanish. It’s a terrifying and confusing world for this usually very talkative and outgoing little girl. Enter, Sesame Street and Sesame Workshop the nonprofit educational organization that revoluntionized children’s television and taught Divina how to speak English.  I still remember watching Big Bird, Maria, Bert, Ernie and friends as they helped me find the strength to learn and grow to the woman I am today. I forever will love Sesame Street and all the good they have done in … [Read more...]

Elmo’s World: All Day with Elmo DVD Review

Elmo's World All Day with Elmo

Image courtesy of Sesame Workshop At our house, X, our two year old loves Elmo! So much so for his two year old birthday celebration it was Elmo themed and I made special Elmo cupcakes to celebrate the occasion. So if X got to spend the whole day with Elmo his dreams would come true. Thankfully thanks to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Sesame Workshop we can now spend the whole day with Elmo with the new super compilation DVD Elmo’s World: All Day with Elmo. The Elmo’s World: All Day with Elmo DVD follows Elmo from when he first wakes up to when he falls asleep on Sesame Street.  Many of the segments focus on waking up, learning about going to school, and how healthy monsters and kids get the best exercise!  When the sun goes down Elmo’s work is not done, additional lessons on bath time duties, brushing your teeth and bed time wrap up Elmo’s daily activities. “Elmo’s World” is a Sesame Street favorite and this compilation has some … [Read more...]

(Video) A Very Furry Christmas at Sesame Place #furrychristmas

With Thanksgiving behind us, it is time to start thinking about the holidays. I honestly cant believe it is almost here, for some reason the year went by so fast, we at Dancing Hotdogs are so glad we got to spend it with all of you. In addition, to all the decorating, the impending holiday season also means the return of A Very Furry Christmas at Sesame Place. We had such a great time last year with Elmo and friends especially Santa Claus that we made it a family tradition to go again and experience the fun. . Opening November 17th, the entire park will be transformed for the holidays into a winter spectacular. Part of this spectacular is a 25 foot Christmas tree at the center of the park that lights up in time with various Sesame Street holiday songs. Each night Santa will also make a visit to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and to take pictures at Santa’s workshop. Also planned is the new ride Sesame place Furry Express for A Very Furry Christmas at Sesame Place. This is a … [Read more...]

(Video) Courtyard Philadelphia Langhorne Hotel Review

Courtyard Philadelphia Langhorne

Image courtesy of Courtyard Philadelphia Langhorne Travel is tough enough with children, why make it worse by staying at a second rate hotel.  The key to having a wonderful vacation is comfort and comfort doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.  All you need to know is the right places to look.  When we go to Sesame Place things are so hectic with everyone wanting to go on rides and see their favorite character, so it is doubly important to find a hotel nearby where you can relax and have a good night sleep. Here is how we found our time at the Courtyard Philadelphia Langhorne: Location: Tucked in extremely close enough to the park to walk (though I wouldn’t recommend it).  The area has a ton of restaurants all of which understand that their clientele are going to have kids so there is plenty of high chairs and booster seat.  The hotel itself is located off the main road and relatively isolated from all the noise from the surrounding business and road.  Getting in and … [Read more...]

(Video) Kinect Sesame Street Review

XBOX 360 Kinect Sesame Street

It seems like most video games even though they are for “kids” it seem the parents end up playing the game more than the children.  This is especially apparent when playing video games for small children.  Some of has to do with the fact that little kids sometimes want to watch what is happening on the screen without having to worry about playing the game.  Throw in the fact that the Kinect requires you to be so physical when playing game, and you can imagine how difficult it could be for kids just learning coordination to really enjoy the story. Kinect Sesame Street really solves this issue.  Rather than being a video game in the traditional sense, Kinect Sesame Street brings your child into the actual show. Kinect Sesame Street was built especially for young children focusing on:          Promoting literacy and math          Modeling scientific inquiry skills          Fostering social and emotional development Can you imagine … [Read more...]

Sesame Street: Iron Monster and Sesame Heroes DVD Review

Iron Monster DH

By Eddy It seems that the superhero crazy has hit the Sesame Street Gang.  On January 3, 2012 Sesame Street: Iron Monster and Sesame heroes was released on DVD.  The disc contains 4 super hero themed Sesame Street stories that include series stars such as Grover, Elmo, Abby, Rosita, Bert and Ernie.  Each one participates as super heroes using their powers to save the day and solve problems. The great thing is that they put a Sesame Street style spin on many of the most well known superheroes in comics, including Iron Man and the Fantastic Four.  In the world of Sesame Street they are known as Iron Monster and the Furry Four.  In addition, for those of you that like the more original Super Grover don’t worry, he is included in one of the stories “Super Grover’s Sidekick”.  Needless to say along with having superheroes are all the thing that makes Sesame Street great for kids.  Children get to learn about patterns, counting and simple addition and subtraction as well … [Read more...]

Sesame Place: A Very Furry Christmas Visit Video and Review

Sesame Place Very Furry Christmas Divina

By Divina So where did I spend my birthday weekend?  At Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Sesame Place, the nation’s only theme park based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Street getting into the holiday spirit! AND I CANNOT GET OVER HOW MUCH FUN WE HAD! We have been to Sesame Place before to see all our Sesame friends like Elmo and Big Bird but we had never there for the Very Furry Christmas celebration.  It was beautiful!  There were over 300 Christmas trees, three special Christmas shows; 1-2-3 Christmas Tree Show, Elmo's World Live! Happy Holidays and Elmo's Christmas Wish Show and the Neighborhood Street Party Christmas Parade. The park did an amazing job decorating they even had a little North Pole there! Check out our video: This is the first time we did the Dine with Me eating at the park and it might become a go to for every visit.  The food was good and all the characters minus Big Bird came up to you for a picture.  No waiting in line for you! It was … [Read more...]

Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster Video Game Review

Once upon a monster logo

By Eddy Parents pull out those wallets.  If you have an Xbox 360 Kinect and little children you no doubt have a similar issue that I encounter often.  There aren’t very many games that are worth playing with your children on the Kinect.  Don’t get me wrong, good games for the Kinect do exist, it is just that they are far and few between.  The ultimate result is that the Xbox ends up being an expensive dust collector.  This is especially true with games targeted to children Rock’s age (3 years), whose short attention span and lack of coordination make it difficult for games on the system to be fun over a long period of time. Thankfully, games like Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster are being released.  Check out the video. The Once Upon a Monster has a couple of things going for it: First, it puts you and your child in the place of some of the more famous characters in Sesame Street, such as Elmo and Cookie Monster.  Second, the actions and movement are … [Read more...]
