Sesame Street: Iron Monster and Sesame Heroes DVD Review

By Eddy It seems that the superhero crazy has hit the Sesame Street Gang.  On January 3, 2012 Sesame Street: Iron Monster and Sesame heroes was released on DVD.  The disc contains 4 super hero themed Sesame Street stories that include series stars such as Grover, Elmo, Abby, Rosita, Bert and Ernie.  Each one participates as super heroes using their powers to save the day and solve problems. The great thing is that they put a Sesame Street style spin on many of the most well known superheroes in comics, including Iron Man and the Fantastic Four.  In the world of Sesame Street they are known as Iron Monster and the Furry Four.  In addition, for those of you that like the more original Super Grover don’t worry, he is included in one of the stories “Super Grover’s Sidekick”.  Needless to say along with having superheroes are all the thing that makes Sesame Street great for kids.  Children get to learn about patterns, counting and simple addition and subtraction as well … [Read more...]

PowerUp Heroes Video Game Review

By Eddy Exclusively for the Xbox Kinect, PowerUp Heroes takes the first step in giving players the feeling that they are a super hero.  Yet the elation of super powers is fleeting as the game runs into a number of barriers that make it a tougher sell for adults, more specifically, an extremely short single player campaign, repetitive game play and a lack of complexity.  Even with me saying that, I still found myself satisfyingly addicted to the game...because what guy in their right mind wouldn't want to be a superhero! PowerUp Heroes puts you in a series of battle against other super beings, all powered by a unique suit.  The game has the standard kicking and punch combat, but in order to spice things up players are able to perform a series of movements inorder to execute a special power move unique to the suit you are wearing.  Each suit is earned by defeating an opponent (FYI this is all in the single player mode).  There are 20 suits in total, each with 3 special … [Read more...]

Comic Con 2009

My Thoughts On Comic Con by Eddy As a Newbie to Comic Con I was really excited to experience The Con first hand.  Now that I am back to my Fortress of Solitude it dawned on me that I am just glad I survived it (To think that it wasn't even the busiest day...that would be Saturday).  So here are a couple of my thoughts on The Con. *No Children allowed- not to say that children can't go to Comic Con, I am just saying that it extremely difficult.  There are so many people, and it goes without saying that many of these people are fanatical.  Luckily Divina is an expert baby wrangler because it could have been much worse.  Right before opening, there was a huge pushing crowded chomping at the bit to get at the exhibits (and the free stuff) and it wasn't like it was pizza faced teens dressed up as the Green Lantern or their World of Warcraft characters.  It was the grandma aged women who represented the greatest danger.
