For Dads: Crazy Stupid Love #BlurayElite Review #SP

crazy stupid love dh

As a member of Warner Home Video super exclusive Blu-Ray Elite team, I get access to some of the greatest movies ever made. My mission is to give you how these movies fit in the life of a Dad. Movie: Crazy Stupid Love I know you have been waiting for a great movie, and I finally got one.  Starring Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling, Julian Moore and Emma Stone, this movie takes up through the tumultuous life of Cal Weaver as he gets divorced but ultimately finds the love he truly deserves and needs in the end.  Its kind of like How Stella Got her Groove Back for white males. Dad Factor: medium/high.  I have a slight MILF crush on Julian Moore and Emma Stone has been climbing up the ranking of Hollywood cuties in my mind.  It doesn’t hurt that I feel both have fun and outgoing personalities (As you can tell with Divina, I really like that).  Through in the fact that for a Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling are probably among the top 3 leading men that I can tolerate in a Romantic … [Read more...]

The Tourist Movie Review

the-tourist-movie-poster-540x800

By Eddy I am not going to lie; I am probably the worst person to review this movie.  The reason I say this starts with the stars of the film.  If you have read any of my previous film reviews with Angelina, you will find out that I have a slightly not so wholesome infatuation with her.  That in itself isn't too bad, but if you add in my hetero-man crush on Johnny Depp (goes back to 21 Jump Street ) and the beautiful sights and sounds of Venice, Italy and I am pretty sure that there might be a problem. Yet the first step to recovery is realizing you have a problem.  So with that in mind I am going to try to be as objective as possible or in my world, be as critical as possible.  The best parts of the movie are just what I mentioned above, the stars and local, other than that the movie is pretty predictable and relatively unexciting.  … [Read more...]

The Prince of Persia Movie Review

jake-gyllenhaal-prince-of-persia-movie-poster_a

By Eddy Based on the video game series, Prince of Persia brings us into the world of a strangely Anglo looking Prince Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), who was adopted at a young age by the king after showing uncommon bravery.  He must return a dagger capable of controlling time to a safe resting place before the forces of evil track him down and kill him.  Of course, there is a spunky beautiful princess (Gemma Arterton) that will need saving at some point of the movie and...and...and...and, well that all folks!     There really isn't much more to talk about regarding the plot.  Feel free to fill in huge CGI spectacle and daring escape liberally throughout my little description there and it should be done.  Actually, the one notable about the movie's many action scene was that many of them had a weird similarity to Disney's Aladdin , though I not too sure where they were going with it. Not to say that you should be expecting more from a movie based on a video game, but it … [Read more...]

Public Enemies Movie Review

Has Director Michael Mann lost his marbles or transgressed to a whole new level? By Jeff What a divider this one has been. Critics and moviegoers have either been all-for-it (New York Times' Manohla Dargis, Hollywood Elsewhere's Jeffrey Wells, Roger Ebert, the majority of my friends), or simply impressed by the high level of historical production value but ultimately unswayed and unsatisfied by the hi-def camera action employed throughout and powerful but somewhat silent and muted script phrasings. No other director I have ever watched has as gradually enveloped me as much in his vision, upon repeated viewings, as Michael Mann (and maybe David Lynch). Mann's other primarily cited masterpieces, Manhunter , The Last of the Mohicans and yes, 1995's Heat , were all met by critics and audiences alike largely with ambivalent or negative reactions upon original release Today, Heat is considered one of the top 10 best films of the 1990s. With his last two films, the … [Read more...]

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Movie Review

forgetting-sarah-marshall

By Eddy Here is a quick review on the 150,000th movie this year staring someone that knows Judd Apatow (jeez...its like this guy is a young Spielberg, every studio is practically chomping at the bit to put movies from him or his friends on TV.)  It honestly is getting to the point that we may be over-saturated.     If there is one bad hit, I am practically guaranteeing a total collapse of the Apatow Empire. Now on to the movie, Produced by Apatow and written and starring Jason Segel ("How I Met Your Mother") is a story about a musician (for TV shows) who is dating a super popular actress Kristen Bell (Heroes, yes I know was a big star on some WB show that was humongously popular, but I cant remember the name of it).  She breaks up with Jason Segel for the Rock Start Du Jour (Russell Brand), who obviously is promiscuous and uncensored, yet endearingly honest.  After moping for what seems months and withstanding a number of failed relationships and one night … [Read more...]

Blog: New Batman Villans

I just heard on the grapevine (ie. rotten tomatoes) that the next batman film is expected to have some heavy hitters for villains.  Johnny Depp as the Riddler and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin.  I smell Spiderman3!?!  Is this a good thing? Well, I guess if the director stays the same as well as Bale as Batman it is hard to say that things won't go right, but I have fallen in that same trap before.  It does leave for some interesting speculation, is the franchise trying to "jump the shark" due to the performance and death of Heath Ledger.  It is going to take a hell of a movie to top the last one.  Who better to supply the performances than Captain Jack Sparrow and Truman Capote. … [Read more...]
