Spring 2013 Outdoor Safety Tips

Can you hear it? Can you smell it? Can you taste it? Can you see it? Can you feel it? Spring is in the air! The Dancing Hotdogs family and I are cannot wait! Our spring calendar is filling up with outdoor activities, bike rides, road trips and spring fun! As the weather gets warmer, I want my little men to be outside enjoying the new season but as a parent I have to aware of spring safety rules so spring fever does not turn into spring boo boos and injuries. Here are some bike, sun and car tips to keep in mind for Spring 2013. Bike: Protect yourself and your family, BE ALERT and wear bright colors Where safety GEAR like helmets, reflectors or pads no matter your age Check and maintain your GEAR before a ride BE AWARE and obey the rules of the road whether riding with traffic or on the sidewalk Sun: BE AWARE 10 am to 4 pm is when sun rays are their harshest. The day and age of having to ratchet back your toy cars to get them to speed off are long over. I still remember having my Grandfather buy me one at the corner store in Puerto Rico. I was so excited to put the car on the ground and pull back, hearing that familiar clicking sound and then letting go. I couldn’t imagine anything going faster than that little car back then. Nowadays things have change. Technology is king, and as results those little cars of the past have been supped up to a point that I doubt my younger self would be able to handle it. All you need as evidence is just to take a look at one of the Hot Wheel Stunt Chargers. Just place them on their dock and charge them up. Once you place them on the floor, watch out! Healthy eating isn't something that should be considered when we do our new year’s resolutions. It needs to be a year round commitment; that is not to say that that commitment shouldn't been enjoyable. Whenever I thought of eating healthy the first thing that came to my mind was starving myself eating tasteless food in super small portions. Of course, with this image in mind, it isn't hard to figure out that I couldn't keep the diet going on for long. Instead of thinking healthy I should have thought of smart, including the right foods in your diet doesn't take too much effort and can have a significant impact on your long term health. From their birth in the late 80’s to their current resurgence, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have resonated with children of almost all age. Their fun personalities combined with expert fighting skills is a great combination and one that has proved resilient even in this day and age. For the holidays we were able to sample some of the new line for Nickelodeon. With Thanksgiving behind us, it is time to start thinking about the holidays. I honestly cant believe it is almost here, for some reason the year went by so fast, we at Dancing Hotdogs are so glad we got to spend it with all of you. In addition, to all the decorating, the impending holiday season also means the return of A Very Furry Christmas at Sesame Place. We had such a great time last year with Elmo and friends especially Santa Claus that we made it a family tradition to go again and experience the fun. . Opening November 17th, the entire park will be transformed for the holidays into a winter spectacular. Part of this spectacular is a 25 foot Christmas tree at the center of the park that lights up in time with various Sesame Street holiday songs. Each night Santa will also make a visit to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and to take pictures at Santa’s workshop. Big Brothers Big Sisters #LatinoBigs Needs You

Being able to give back to others has become important for the Dancing Hotdogs family. Be it giving household or baby items we have received to the local clinic for families in need or donating toys that we have accumulated over the years to those less fortunate being able to help others seems to have become a part of our daily life. Yet, I believe our most important impact hasn’t been because of toy or physical items, over the past 3 year I have organized an event called the Quest Education Summit. Already in its twelfth year of existence Quest buses in minority students (mainly from low income families) from all over the state of Connecticut and exposes them to the possibility of going to college. This is done through guest speakers, workshops etc. The students are provided free transportation and two meals during the day, all the while having the opportunity to successful minorities who made it from the same place and families as theirs. Similar to Kinect Sesame Street, Kinect Nat Geo TV bring a whole new interactive approach to playing games with small children. Nat Geo TV takes actual episodes from the popular Nat geo show Nat Geo Wild TV hosted by Casey Anderson and his 800 pound grizzly bear Brutus and distributes throughout the shows fun mini games and interesting task that require the player to fully interact with the game. Check us out taking a look at the game: Yes, you saw correctly not only are you learning educational facts about bears and some other animals but you are having a 2-way TV experience. Our favorite part of the game has to be the games which put you in the shoes of the animal. The Kinect will show your image and transpose a animal costume on to you body. One of the more memorable was when I was playing as a bear and had to use my claws to eat ants and to bat down bee’s nest for honey. Kaijudo: Duel Masters episode Party

A couple of months ago Kaijudo premiered on Rock’s favorite channel “the hub”. The show is based on the system of card game of the same name, which has become such a huge phenomenon in the last couple of years similar to Pokemon. The show follows the exploits of a boy named Ray who can access a parallel dimension filled with crazy creatures. These creatures become his friends and also allow him to fight against Evil forces who want to capture and enslave his creature friends. It is up to Ray and his two friends to become Duel Masters so that they can help same themselves and the creatures from total extinction. To help celebrate the premier of the show, Divina and I received a bunch of Kaijudo headbands that we brought to Paraguay and we had a big Kaijudo Party.
