(Video) Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph 3D Movie Review

Wreck-It Ralph Poster

Image courtesy of Disney Eddy, Rock, X and I were invited to a prescreening of the latest Walt Disney Animation Studios where we were thoroughly entertained by the unlikely hero, Wreck-It Ralph, family friendly humor and the amazing visuals. Synopsis: From Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore comes “Wreck-It Ralph,” a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping adventure. For decades, Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) has been overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, Jr. (voice of Jack McBrayer), the good-guy star of their game who always gets to save the day. Tired of playing the role of a bad guy, Ralph takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a journey across the arcade through multiple generations of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, Ralph meets tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty, and feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah … [Read more...]

Disney Treasure Buddies Blu-Ray and DVD

[Read more...]

Thor Movie Review

Thor Movie Poster

By Eddy Not bad Marvel, not bad at all.  Considering all that could have gone wrong (ala Wolverine) along with a director not experienced with Large popcorn action flicks (ala Ang Lee with Hulk) Thor rise the ranks of the comic book movie Patheon to arrive somewhere below the first Spiderman and above the second Iron Man.  Both movies were well received and in the case of Spiderman broke records, but when taken in full perspective of all the movies out there fails to reach the lofty heights of Spiderman 2 and both new Batman movies, rarified air to say the least.  Though I wouldn’t complain there are a ton of films that fall in the same plateau as Thor, the X-Men movies, Superman Returns and the various indie movies from the Crow to Kick Ass.  Each one was fun to watch, but never really took the next step to make it a truly great film. In this case, it could be the subject matter that was its downfall.  In the scheme of things, Thor isn’t really a fan favorite nor really … [Read more...]

Sucker Punch Movie Review

Sucker Punch poster

By Eddy Sucker Punch is the story of Baby Doll (Emily Browning).  She was committed to an insane asylum by her stepfather after she mistakenly kills her little sister in attempt to protect her from being molested by him.  The Stepfather pays a corrupt orderly to forge papers to have her lobotomized in five days. Baby Doll finds “friends” in the form of 4 other inmates (Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens and Jamie Chung).  The movie shows as she escapes further and further into her own mind, first to a brothel/burlesques show setting and then to various battle scenes as she and her friends attempt to recover 5 items that will allow them to escape the sanitarium. Visually the move plays out like the perfect video game.   It’s as if the director, Zach Snyder,  polled every dork/geek/dweeb and digbat (including myself) in the U.S. and asked them what they wanted to see in an action movie.  Who can argue with scantily clad young ladies fight … [Read more...]
