Noche Latino with Kia at Madison Square Garden #KiaNocheLatina

Divina and Eddy Dancing Hotdogs #KiaNocheLatina

Last night, D and I were invited to our first professional Basketball game at Madison Square Garden.  As part of the NBA’s League wide Noche Latino, long time NBA and New York Knicks sponsor invited us to celebrate the occasion with them at the game as well as to give notice that Kia was now one of the main sponsors of the famous Madison Square Garden. At the game, D and I were able to learn about Kia’s strategy to engage the Hispanic market.  As one of the fast growing populations in the U.S. as well as a every increasing influence in commerce due to our purchasing power, Hispanics have become a highly desirable group for brands and marketers.  This was even more evident during the NBA’s Noche Latino, which is the NBA’s way of celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.  I can’t wait to see how Kia and the NBA continue to focus on Latino. Check out video recap of the game. Disclosure: We were guests of Kia during NBA's Noche Latino at Madison Square Garden. … [Read more...]

Nutrilite NYC Event

The Nutrilite MYPACK line

Healthy eating isn't something that should be considered when we do our new year’s resolutions.  It needs to be a year round commitment; that is not to say that that commitment shouldn't been enjoyable.   Whenever I thought of eating healthy the first thing that came to my mind was starving myself eating tasteless food in super small portions. Of course, with this image in mind, it isn't hard to figure out that I couldn't keep the diet going on for long.  Instead of thinking healthy I should have thought of smart, including the right foods in your diet doesn't take too much effort and can have a significant impact on your long term health. Last month, I got a “Dose of Color” with Nutrilite in New York City. At the event we got a chance to learn about smart eating as well as undergo a complete Health Assessment with various Doctors and experts in the Health field.  Key among those who would be speaking to us was Chef Rick Bayless, world renown Chef (you might … [Read more...]

Dragons of Babel Book Review

dragons of Babel DH

By Eddy I have read enough Fantasy novels lately to start getting sick of them.  I know all the hardcore nerds ( I can say this, I am one of them) are gasping with shock, but I had enough of underdog kid/small person going on long and perilous journey to save the world from Evil incarnate.  Whenever this happens I tend to drift into other genres such as action/thriller or horror books, but after reading the back cover of Michael Swanwick’s The Dragons of Babel, I decided to put everything down and start reading immediately. Thank God I did.  This is by no means your typical fantasy book.  Remove all thoughts of your preconceived notions of places such as Avalon, Faerie and Babel.  Swanwick’s novel twists and darkens this places we usually connect with beautiful and shinny faces.  He creates a world that is a clash between our modern industrial society with the legendary places of fairytales. The result is a land that is capable of awe inspiring beauty in one location … [Read more...]

NY Comic Con Thursday Rundown

NYCC 1

By Eddy Just got back from NY Comic Con (NYCC) and boy are my legs killing me.  It is not a fun walk from Grand Central to the Javitz Center, everything looks so close from google maps on my iphone.  Though I can’t help but feel worse for some of the other people walking with me still in total costume.  In New York City you see all types of crazy stuff, but for some reason it doesn’t prepare you for seeing grown men dressed as their favorite anime character (maybe my skin isn’t thick enough yet). Even on a “preview” day, the Jacob Javitz center was buzzing with activity. The day was supposedly open for press, exhibitors and VIP’s but I definitely saw 4 day ticket owners there as well. Though they added to the chaos, I was able to get a couple of glimpses of the costumes that make going to NYCC a fun event.  Yet, even as I write this I know that the crowds on Thursday will be nothing like that on Friday and Saturday, it doesn’t even compare.  A little tip … [Read more...]

Main Street in Motion NYC Event

DSCF3145

By Eddy A couple of weeks ago I drove a neon green 2011 Chevy Camero, not satisfied that my inner speed demon was satiated I hoped in a cherry red convertible corvette for a nice little ride.  With that you would have thought I was all set, but I realized that speed wasn’t everything especially with the price of gas these days, so moments later I hoped in the a Chevy Volt…you know to save the environment, and to pretend I was driving a space ship (yes I did make all the sound effects too PEW!) 93 miles a gallon is not anything to sneeze at, I had to throw an aluminum can in a regular trash basket in order to right thing with the world again.  Next I jumped in a Dodge Ram and then to a Buick Enclave just so that I could say that I was a Man’s man and a Family man in the span of five minutes.  The reason I was able to ride all these spectacular rides was because I attend General Motor’s Main Street in Motion at its national stop in Citi Field in New York City.  Main … [Read more...]

SEGA: Captain America and Thor Video Games

thor

By Eddy NY Comic Con has come and gone, and we are left to pick up all the pieces.   Yet I am pretty sure that the true effect of the "Con" won't be felt until closer to the holidays when all the video games, movies and books that were showcased finally hit the market. I am hoping to shed a bit of light on some of the many things that I had the chance to preview at the Javitz center. One of the more exclusive views I got was of the Captain America and Thor video games scheduled to arrive from SEGA .  First with Thor, while the game isn't totally finished certain lucky individuals were invited to view an exclusive screening of video from the game hosted by one of the game creators.  While there wasn't much of actual game footage we did get a number of small clips as well view concept art for the game.  From what I saw and heard the whole concept of the game was to let the player really feel as if they were the God of Thunder...yes I know we hear this with … [Read more...]

New York Asian Film Festival 2010

By Eddy If I wasn't going to a wedding this weekend, I would have totally dragged D to this.  Even if I am not going to see a movie this weekend, it doesn't mean that you shouldn't. Right now is a perfect time to go and check out some of the big movies that have come out in Asia.  Trust me, there have been a ton of great movie that have come out in the past couple of years...blockbusters...that have never made it onto our shore and those that do are usually disfigured and morphed into something else before we even see it. One those unseen gems is the martial arts masterpiece, IP MAN.  I have already talked about this movie a while ago.  Well, now is the time to see it on the big screen along with its sequel(which I didn't even know it had until just right now). Remember the only way to watch many of these films is going to be during this festival.  The New York Asian Film Festival starts today, June 25th and lasts until July 8, so there isn't any excuse. Also, … [Read more...]
