Clash of the Titans Movie Review

By Eddy There is a certain lack of scope that was missing with Clash of the Titans .  With other movies of this magnitude you can feel the epic scale of the movie. Even with the worst of the worst like Transformers 2 you at least got the feeling that the movie was supposed to be a big deal.  With Clash of the Titans you never get that feel. The movie feels small and really unimpressive.  Also take into account that I saw the movie in 2D (which according to the internet was by far the best way to see it) so even in the best possible conditions the movie just falls flat.  The reasons for my reaction can be attributed to a number of things.  It could have been that everyone already saw the main bad creature (The Kraken) in all the trailers removing the sense of awe from seeing the bad guy.  Of course, the movie itself hypes the creature at various points of the film that when we see the creature you are left hoping for more.  Again, this movie was supposedly based on the 1981 … [Read more...]

Avatar Movie Review

By Eddy Now that Avatar has become the second highest grossing movie, behind only Titanic , the question has to be asked, is James Cameron the greatest director ever.  Can he even make a bad movie? (or a nude Kate Winslet?) Is Titanic worthy of being the all time grossingest movie? Though I never profess to be a fan of the film, I just don't see many people taking a rest from channel surfing and watching the two plus hours of Titanic whenever it is on cable. Now will this happen to Avatar ?  As far as I am concerned … [Read more...]

Terminator: Salvation Movie Review

terminator-salvations

By Jeff The Final Nail in the Coffin It can be justifiably said that Terminator Salvation bears no prominent resemblance to The Terminator or Terminator 2: Judgment Day , both of which owe their ongoing legacy as two of the best horror/action films of all time to one person, directorial craftsman extraordinaire James Cameron  Terminator Salvation was given birth for one reason, and one reason only: because fans have a deep-seeded love for those aforementioned films (I don't feel the need to reference Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines here at all). How can anyone forget the moment they first witnessed Arnold Schwarzenegger, naked and stalking abandoned parking lots and bars, that terrifying blank look on his face, with a single mission in mind - kill Sarah Connor. Or the chilling ‘liquid-metal' T-1000 (played by lean Robert Patrick) sprinting after his targets and shape-shifting with the help of never before seen special effects. This fourth installment, given an … [Read more...]
