The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Movie Review

the-sorcerers-apprentice-movie-poster

By Eddy I guess so much can be expected from a Mickey Mouse clip with a bunch of brooms and music, or for those more learned readers a poem by Goethe (none the less it all the same premise).  Having said that, you are probably better watching Fantasia or digging up the poem once again instead of wasting your cash on this movie and I only spent $4.50. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is not funny enough to be a good kid's movie and not smart enough for adults.  So where does that leave us?  Well, I can tell you where it leaves this film...with a lot of empty seats. The plot is as follows: Nic Cage is one of Merlin's three apprentices who help him fight against the ultimate evil in the Sorceress Morgana.  The three apprentices consist of Cage, Alfred Molina, and Monica Belluci. Of course, one of the apprentices' ends up betraying the others and helps Morgana destroy Merlin, but not before she is captured and trapped. Fast forward to present times where Cage is searching for the … [Read more...]

The A-Team Movie Review

the-a-team-full-poster-1-4-10-kc

By Eddy First, let me start by saying I recommend you watch this movie.  If you like good old fashion action movies then The A-Team is there to fulfill your needs.  Fun movies are hard to find nowadays and there is so many Pixar like movies that one can wait for to enjoy.  That is what is so surprising about The A-Team , with all the disappointments hitting the screen this summer and even before; I came into the movie with D with extremely low expectations, hoping to not be too bored when I left the movie.  Instead of looking at my watch to see when it would end, I was looking at it to see how much more I would be able to get. I was into the movie from the beginning to end. Again this is The A-Team , it was not a critically acclaimed T.V. show and the film isn't going to be winning any awards.  It is meant to be a big dumb fun time for people, rather than War and Peace it is that mystery novel you bring to the beach. If you watch it in this context then I think you will … [Read more...]

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen Movie Review

Attack of the Critic(s) By Jeff Ahh, where to begin. This is robot porn people. Robot. Porn. And I mean that in as many different ways as you can think of. Two and a half hours of robots bouncing all over the place, leaving behind a trail of blurred polygons, weirdly toned sexual jokes, references or undertones, and seemingly sporadic spots of racial stereotyping. All the female characters are nymphomaniacs, including hero Shia LaBeouf's mother. There's even a dominatrix-themed robot disguised as a super-slutty college mega-babe (newcomer Isabel Lucas, gee what a future she has). At one point, a mini-robot furiously humps Megan Fox's leg. But it's not funny, it's just weird. Also thrown in, and I don't know how this passed the Censors Board (oh wait, I remember, because the movie is going to bring in a half a billion Hollywood dollars worldwide by the end of August), are two Autobots (read: good robots) who talk in jive, and come across as somewhat-to-very racist … [Read more...]

Tropic Thunder Movie Review

tropic-thunder

By Eddy Headlined by an all star cast of Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black, Tom Cruise, and supported by Matthew McConaughey, Nick Nolte as well as a throng of guest appearances, Tropic Thunder was one of the larger releases this summer.  The movie profits were especially buoyed by Robert Downey's heroic turn in "Iron Man" earlier in the year. For the most part I found it an enjoyable experience, and while I didn't burst a lung laughing out loud, I was entertained, and found the one liners spouted by each of the actors as the best part of the movie.  Most outstanding were the performances of Tom Cruise as a foul mouthed studio boss and Robert Downey Jr.  as an  award winning dramatic actor who in order to maintain his method acting style undergoes plastic surgery to truly become his character.  While most people enjoyed the movie, there was a significant amount of press due to the films treatment of the mentally retarded.  Personally, I could see where … [Read more...]
