For Dads: Lowe’s Window Box Project-Finale

Final Window Box

So here it is completed. I will have to say that it isn’t a bad job for a beginner, though I did have a couple of growing pains. More specifically:          Don’t paint over newspaper, it might be good for pre-school projects unfortunately, paint tends to stick on the paper resulting in having to sand off the glued pages on the wood.          Wood warps in humid weather…plan accordingly          Stain is best applied with a rag or sponge; brushes just make it look like you painted with brown paint. Other than that things went pretty smoothly, if you want to see how I did as I was building the window box head to @daddyuprising on twitter hastag #lowesdiy.   If you want to check out other ideas from Lowe's head to www.lowescreativeideas.com or si hablas espanol www.lowesideascreativas.com. Don't miss out on the chance to win a couple of Lowe's gift cards from the wonderful ladies at Trumpeting Media TODAY!!!!!  check out more … [Read more...]

LATISM Healthy Living Campaign Project and Twitter Party 1/11/12

muscle-chest-shirt

By Eddy Being healthier seems to be everyone number one New Year’s resolution.  Yet, as you get older the more important the goal becomes, especially when you have kids.  As far as D is concerned, I am required to live at least until I am 94. With that said I have not been as stead fast on that goal as I should be.  There is always the standard excuse of “I’m too tired after work” or “I just want to spend time with my boys” but in the end it comes down to having the will and determination to keep things going. I recently heard on the radio that losing weight is impossible, once the body gets rid of the “fat” weight the body will always try to get back to being “fat” again (so it is a uphill battle).  The advice given by the Radio Host is don’t get fat, gee thanks for that! I guess any one over weight should just wait for the cold grip of death then.   But, rather than just give up and start stuffing myself with chocolate, I decided to change how I … [Read more...]

The Three Wise Men are on their way- it’s time to Celebrate! Tres Reyes Twitter Party

Mibestbuy DH

One of the major holiday's in Hispanic culture is Three Kings Day (no not the movie with Marky Mark and George Clooney).  Unfortunately, for the past couple of years D and I haven't really been keeping up with observing the holiday.  It is much easier when you are a kid and getting presents add in the fact add in that Rock usually got enough presents to last a couple of Christmases you can understand why we decided to hold off.   Yet this past year the date (1/6/11) took on specially significance to our family.  That was the birthday of our second boy, X.  So after many years,  Three Kings Day has returned to being a day of meaning and celebration for Divina and I.  We couldn't have asked for a better present last year to kick off our Three Kings Day revival.  But beyond that the day means so much more, as a day to reflect and be thankful for all the gifts we have been given. Now that you know what Three Kings Day means to us, it is time to let us know what it means to … [Read more...]

Join us on 11/8/11 for a Pacquiao-Marquez PPV #SomosFiOS Twitter Party!

Pacquiao vs. Marquez III twitter party pic

By Eddy As you could tell after the last super fight and twitter party, I am a boxing fan. While the last fight was a bit of a disappointment, at least to those looking to watch an actual fight, I am way more hopeful for Pacquiao-Marquez. Considering the fragile state of our boxing legends (my thoughts go out to Joe Frazier) we have to appreciate great boxers while they are at their prime.  Manny Pacquiao is one of those great boxers, no doubt about it.  So believe me when I say that I will be glued to the TV for “rubber match” between these two boxers. Put on your boxing gloves and join Verizon FiOS and Hispanicize on November 8, 2011 for the “Pacquiao-Marquez Boxing Match-Up” Twitter Party. How many times have these tough Latinos faced off? After a four-year hiatus from each other, they will be back at it again on Pay-Per-View available on Verizon FiOS. Before then, we'll ‘chismear’ about boxing history, favorite fighters and match-ups, passion for the sport, and … [Read more...]

By Divina I am home after a truly inspiring and amazing weekend at Blogalicious with over 150 fabulous bloggers.  You may be asking yourself, what is Blogalicious 2009?  Blogalicious was the dream of the exceptional MamaLaw ladies who wanted "Black, Latina, Caribbean, Asian-Pacific, and Native-American bloggers, among other nationalities, to enjoy a weekend of entertaining, informative discussions and extraordinary events, all experienced in the company of exceptional women."    Don't you wish you went! This is the first conference Rosa and I have attended and MamaLaw , the volunteers, the staff at the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta and the sponsors of Blogalicious just made this conference experience exceptional.  All my future conferences have a lot to live up to! Some of favorite moments were: Meeting and taking a picture with the Pine-Sol Lady (Diane Amos)!  Pine-Sol was quite a presence at the conference.  Not only were they a title … [Read more...]

Ripley’s Believe it or Not! New York City

madame-t

"A passport to the Strange and the Bizarre & the Unbelievable" By Rosa New York City has plenty of museums and shows to entertain you.  A day is not enough to see everything.  Luckily New York City is only a train away, so going in for a day and trying a new museum is not difficult.  For this NYC trip, I wanted to see something other than artwork so my destination was Ripley's Believe it or Not. On December 25, 1890, in Santa Rosa, California, Robert Leroy Ripley was born and his adventure to find the unique and the unusual began.  He made his fortune by selling his cartoons for eight dollars and he invested that into his love of the unordinary.  His passion can now be found in museums around the world.  The New York City Ripley's is located on Times Square 234 West 42nd Street, New York, NY.  It is next to Madame Tussaunds wax museum (Also a recommended place to visit!). It was a great museum! I was a little scared to walk in.  There were so many … [Read more...]

Uprinting Wall Graphic Giveaway

up_logo

By Eddy Uprinting is premiering a new product, Wall Graphics!  I think that these are so cool.  They are huge stickers that you can peel and put on different surfaces.  They don't rip off any of the wallpaper or paint behind them, so you can move them anywhere you want. These neat items come in pretty handy when you have a walking talking tornado at home.  You can have nice pictures and images and not have to worry about hanging and framing them, so there isn't a risk of something falling on our little ones head. To tell you the truth, I would create a huge DancingHotdogs logo as a wall graphic so we can represent when people come over our home.  If I were still in college and unmarried the possibilities suddenly become endless...(snicker, snicker!) So to commemorate this new product, we are giving away TWO 24"x 24" Wall Graphics.  YES! You too can fulfill your need to have a large sticky image of Bea Arthur (God Rest her soul) So here are the rules to the … [Read more...]
